As a mental health professional, Barbara Van Dahlen, Ph.D. paid close attention to the wars waging in Afghanistan and Iraq and knew a mental health crisis was brewing.
The clinical psychologist has her own family connections to the military. Her father,who died in 1986, was a WWII veteran and passed on to her the notion of serving others. “He would give the shirt off his back to help someone,” Van Dahlen said of her father.
